Following the conclusion of the third workshop and the evaluation of the three finalist proposals, the expert jury identified the designs submitted by Sadovsky & Architects and ADR as the most suitable basis for further discussions between the town and the investor.

According to the jury, all three finalist proposals (including the non-selected design by OVA – Opočenský Valouch Architekti) offered high-quality solutions and valuable ideas for the future transformation of the town centre. Their common goal is to create a vibrant public space with an emphasis on high-quality public areas, an attractive town centre, and the fulfilment of local residents’ expectations for the future development of Špindlerův Mlýn.

However, the two selected proposals were considered by the jury to best meet the competition requirements while also presenting distinct urban planning concepts, thereby providing a strong foundation for further discussion on the future development of the area.

A total of 33 teams from the Czech Republic and abroad entered the urban and architectural competition. The process included expert workshops, public presentations of the designs, and the involvement of local residents in discussions about the future of the town centre.

The competition results will now serve as a basis for further negotiations between the town, the investor, and representatives of the independent section of the jury. Key topics of the next stage of discussions will include the future use of the town centre, the design of public spaces, and the functions of the new square and its surrounding area.
