A new project of global dimensions is set to emerge in Bratislava. Southbank will become a valuable expansion of the city center on the opposite bank of the river, and with its scope, it will create an attractive and comfortable place for living, working, and leisure time activities.
The creation of a compact, multifunctional city on the riverbank holds strategic significance for the city’s development plans. After many years, the southern bank of the Danube River will finally be put to full use, offering a multitude of new functions for all residents of Bratislava. The project will introduce approximately 900 apartments and over 85 000 square meters of leasable office and retail space, along with a diverse range of public amenities, and a direct connection to the riverside embankment.
The proposal, created by the collaborative efforts of the architectural studios Snøhetta and Studio Egret West, and the local studio gro architekti, stands out for its high-quality urbanism and architecture, as well as its work with public space, with an emphasis on greenery and the natural context in which the project is nested.
Construction of the project is planned to begin in 2026.
