The winners of the architectural and urban planning competition for the project with the working title Southbank, are the renowned architectural studios Snøhetta and Studio Egret West in cooperation with the local studio gro architects.

The winning studios have an impressive portfolio of award-winning projects across the globe. Some of the most famous projects of the Norwegian studio Snøhetta include the opera and ballet building in Oslo, the headquarters of the French newspaper Le Monde, and a natural pavilion for observing reindeer. Among other things, the studio is well known for its sensitive work with natural context and its influence on urbanism and architecture. London-based Studio Egret West is known primarily for its urban projects in Britain, where they focus on placemaking and creating lively public spaces.

The architectural studio Snøhetta is famous for its projects:

Le Monde Group Headquarters – Paris, France
“Under” – Europe’s First Underwater Restaurant – Lindesnes, Norway
Tverrfjellhytta, Norwegian Wild Reindeer Pavilion – Hjerkinn, Dovre, Norway

The architectural studio Studio Egret West is famous for its project in Great Britain:

The architectural and urban planning competition was launched in mid-August last year. Out of the 52 proposals received, six world-renowned architectural groups were selected for the second round, when they developed their designs in greater detail. When choosing the winner, the jury of professionals evaluated the design’s underlying concept, its complexity, the quality of urbanism and architecture, and the use of public space, with an emphasis on greenery and the natural context of the project’s location.

The winning design will be presented to the professional public in early April, and subsequently to the general public as well.
