The international urban and architectural competition for Nová Budějárna has entered its second phase. Following presentations by eight Czech and international teams, the jury selected four finalists to further develop their proposals: A8000 (CZ), Hamonic + Masson & Associés (FR), Howells (UK) and UNIT architekti (CZ).
The competition focuses on the future transformation of a 40,000 sq m site around the Budějovická metro station in Prague. The goal is to gradually turn the area into a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood centred on residential living, complemented by high-quality public spaces, services and improved pedestrian connectivity. The brief also addresses mobility, green infrastructure, rainwater management and the integration of new development into Prague’s urban skyline.
In the second phase, the shortlisted teams will further refine their concepts based on the jury’s recommendations. The final results will be decided after the third competition workshop scheduled for November 2026. Construction is currently expected to begin in 2029.
