The project to extend the tram line from Dúbravka to the new city district of Bory is moving into its next phase. Penta Real Estate, in cooperation with the City of Bratislava, is submitting the project for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), a key step towards the construction of a new tram line in the western part of the city.

The proposed extension will connect to the existing Dúbravka–Karlova Ves radial line and will add an almost two-kilometer section with four new stops. The project also includes a new transport hub, Lamačská brána, which is intended to integrate tram, rail, and road transport in the future. The development aims to significantly enhance access to the Bory district, the hospital, and the shopping center, while strengthening the connection between western Bratislava and the rest of the city.

Project preparation is the result of cooperation between the public and private sectors, based on a cooperation agreement signed in 2023. The new tram line is designed to provide a faster, higher-capacity, and more environmentally friendly alternative to private car travel, while supporting sustainable mobility in one of Bratislava’s fastest-growing areas.

The EIA process is expected to take approximately twelve months. Once completed, the project can proceed to further permitting procedures and preparation for the implementation phase, with construction of the tram line currently expected in 2029–2030.

The City of Bratislava plans to finance the construction of the tram line primarily through European funds, with the estimated investment value reaching approximately €50 million. Penta Real Estate is contributing to both the financing and delivery of the project’s preparatory phase, having already invested more than €2 million, primarily in project documentation, surveys, and land ownership settlement.
